2011: My year in review

Ok, so I’m a little late to the game. January is almost done and I’m only just starting to think about my 2011 “list of things I’ve done this past year”.  (I should really think of a better title.)

2010: My year in review

For the past 3 or 4 years I’ve always taken a moment in December to go over in my mind the new things I’ve accomplished within that year.  It’s my little way of saying ‘see you did do something with your life’. This year I’ve procrastinated and am only doing the list now.  I get lazy, it happens.

So without further ado, here is my list of “New things I did in 2010 that I’ve never done before”:

  1. The touristy things: England, Ireland, Paris, Cape Breton (though really these should each be their own accomplishments)
  2. Met two of the coolest most amazing Aussi chicks of life. That’s right Tanya and Alex I’m talking about you!
  3. Paris and St. Jacobs Ontario – a road-trip that turned into quite a fun adventure with great friends, a random Santa, and an Irish accent.
  4. Tobermory and Sudbury where I got to see the Mint as well as the giant Nickle
  5. Pretended to be from South Africa and someone actually believing it
  6. Took part in creating an African themed dance for Andrea’s Bachelorette SYTYCD challenge
  7. Created a ‘pin the kiss on Taras’ poster (which kind of creeped me out and kind of made me laugh hysterically)
  8. Climbed the Eiffel tower!
  9. Successfully used The Underground
  10. Poured a perfect pint of Guinness (and got a certificate of proof)
  11. Actually liked the taste of Guinness (though only in Ireland)
  12. Finally spent a day on Toronto Island
  13. Hung out with the band like a groupie (though not  in that I slept with the band way)
  14. Was in a hurricane (though a very very mild one)
  15. Was in an Earthquake  (impact was same as above)
  16. Designed, coded and uploaded my redesigned website in 24hours flat
  17. My website is featured on One Page Love
  18. I created shower invitations for two of my best friends (some of which you can see here)
  19. I have a personalized business stamp (thanks Jenny)!
  20. Completely redesigned a national, more like international :P, website (though it’s not live yet so I won’t divulge which site)
  21. Made a Flash video about why I want to go to FITC and won a ticket! Thanks FITC.
  22. Made my first Christmas e-card
  23. Created real business cards (and not just ones I printed out on my home printer these are from a real print shop!)
  24. Entered into a photography contest and won 2nd place! For your viewing pleasure you can find said photo here. Thanks again Destination Halifax!
  25. Was asked to be a bridesmaid, was a bridesmaid, and totally watched my friend get married to the man of her dreams
  26. Heard the best, Best Man speech of my life
  27. Spent family day weekend up at the cottage playing beerolympics
  28. Started a softball team that ended up being the Spring League Champs, not bad considering half of us have never played before
  29. Started a volleyball team and again were League Champs
  30. Retired from Lacrosse–after 10 years of playing I’m officially off the roster 😦
  31. Spent New Years in Milton and actually had an amazing time
  32. Went to a non-CYM malanka and had a total blast
  33. Had a downtown ladies night, hotel included
  34. Left my first ‘real’ job
  35. Got another job that I actually really really like. Yeah the site could be a little more cool, but what’s more important a flashy site or flashy work?
  36. Learned tons about print work in addition to all the web stuff I’ve learned this past year alone
  37. Bowled a 172 which I believe is my current highest score
  38. Had a crush on a boy I really didn’t like – yeah I can’t explain that one either
  39. Went to a bunch of concerts: Nickelback (yes I know), City and Colour, Sausage Fest (where I saw Die Mannequin, Finger Eleven, Adrian and the DBS)
  40. Saw Disturbed in concert (yes this deserves its own#)
  41. Made a conscious effort to be nice to 2 people that I’d been exceptionally mean to in the past (these people shall remain nameless)
  42. Made the effort (and succeeded) to keep in touch with people I haven’t seen in months or even years.

So 42 new things that I’ve done this year that I haven’t done ever before. (I know you can’t see it, but there’s a smile on my face.) See Adrianna, you did do stuff this year that you can be proud of.
